What the guide establishes
The exact HS-U448 owner's guide documents VHS Hi-Fi sound and ordinary recording/playback operation. These facts do not establish the condition of any machine offered for sale or compatibility with all modern televisions.
Request a demonstration with a known-good Hi-Fi recording and listen to both audio outputs. If one tape has noise, compare another tape before concluding that the deck's audio circuitry is faulty.
Connections and included controls
Mitsubishi's TV hookup uses the composite video output and left/right audio outputs. Match cable functions to the labels, and use a powered conversion device when the display lacks the required analog input.
Ask the seller to operate setup and timer menus with the included remote. The original replacement-remote part number is not established by the evidence reviewed here, so visually similar remotes are not endorsed.
Condition checks and limits
Test playback, stop, rewind and ejection; inspect the ejected tape for fresh creases or slack. Do not use an irreplaceable family recording as a diagnostic cassette.
Tracking and cable checks are reasonable external steps. Opening the cabinet, bypassing interlocks or trying to manually free a tape is outside this guide and should be left to qualified service.
Not verified — no claim is made
- Exact replacement-remote part number, production year and aftermarket compatibility are unverified.
